23rd European Conference on Biomaterials

From September 11 – 15, 2010 the 23rd European Conference on Biomaterials took place in Tampere, Finland. This year the annual conference of the European Society for Biomaterials was organised by the Finnish Society for Biomaterials.

HMC 11 10 02This year’s European Conference on Biomaterials (ESB) was visited by over 800 scientists, physicians, producers and marketing specialists to present the results of their work, to develop new ideas and make new contacts.

A lot of participants are especially interested in the biopolymer chitosan. Findings about their chitosan research were presented during oral and poster presentations.

The results of the work with chitosan were presented in the following speeches:

Drug and Gene Delivery
In Vitro Toxicological Evaluation of Chitosan-based Nanogel Delivery Systems:
Schütz, C. A.; Juillerat-Jeanneret, L.; Halamoda-Kenzaoui, B.; Wandrey,C.
Preparation and Characterisation of Targeted Chitosan-Plasmid DNA Nanoparticles:
Talvitie, E.; Paavilainen, K.; Leppiniemi, J.; Mikhailov, A.; Hytönen V.; Kellomäki, M.
The development of novel bone replacement materials through infiltration of chitosan or polycaprolactone into sintered (collagen-free) cancellous bovine bone:
Laird, D.; Mucalo, M.R.; Dias, G.

Polymers - New Materials
Development of Chitosan/-Polyglutamic Acid Polyelectrolyte Complexes for Tissue Regeneration:
