HMC as a founding member of the new cluster initiative Life-Science Saxony-Anhalt
On November 16, 2022 the supporting association of the new cluster initiative Life-Science Saxony-Anhalt was founded in the technology park Weinberg Campus. We, the Heppe Medical Chitosan GmbH, are excited to be part of it as a founding member.

New cluster initiative of the life science industry in Saxony-Anhalt founded
Saxony-Anhalt's life science industry with its biotechnology, pharmaceutical and biomedical sectors has developed very positively in recent years. The successful development of active substances and the production of vaccines in the pandemic are indicators of this. Both science and the economy in these fields are growing and changing, and not just in terms of technology. Innovations need to be implemented, specialists are sought after, and regulatory frameworks are changing. In this context, there was a call for a new industry network.
The idea for such a network was born at the Weinberg Campus Technology Park, the industry's innovation hub in Saxony-Anhalt, and met with broad approval from research, industry and startups. More than 20 partners have joined forces to form the cluster initiative, including renowned institutes and companies such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI), Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Wacker Biotech GmbH, Serumwerk Bernburg AG, Merz Pharma GmbH, Mibe GmbH, Salutas Pharma GmbH and IDT Biologika GmbH.
Before the cluster can begin its work in the first quarter of 2023, a supporting association first had to be founded and its board formed with representatives from as many areas of the industry as possible. The founding of the supporting association was completed on November 16, 2022, in the presence of State Secretary for Economic Affairs Stefanie Pötzsch at the Weinberg Campus Technology Park. The state of Saxony-Anhalt has promised broad support for the establishment of the cluster in the lead market of health and medicine.
